my 2025 reading wrapped

hi! i haven’t been using my website as much as i hoped to, and for my first blog post, i wanted to share my 2025 reading wrapped (think spotify wrapped). i haven’t read much this year because i did a lot of school, work, and travelling. but I still wanted to share my reading recap to hopefully be an encouragement for anyone else in a reading slump!

books read: 19 (10 for school, 9 for fun)

pages read: 7,169

average rating: 4.3

persuasion by jane austen

yes, yes, yes, a million times yes, and again YES! i absolutely adored this book, and (dare i say) it might be my favorite of austen’s works. wentworth’s letter is so swoony, i absolutely love anne, and i just think everything about this book is perfect. (and if that’s not enough, i also have this absolutely gorgeous edition!)

with a little luck by marissa meyer

this is such a cute summer read! it’s a sweet, swoony teen romance and i really enjoyed reading this. however, there were a few things i didn’t love (gay characters, some swearing, luck/universe/magic stuff), so definitely keep that in mind. but besides that, this is such an adorable romance that definitely had me squealing!

once i knew by victoria lynn

this book had been hyped up and recommended to me by my online friends for a while, so i finally gave in. šŸ˜† i was very impressed by this debut novel, and it reminded me of melanie dickerson—who just so happens to be my comfort author. i love medieval fantasy, and this book did not disappoint! the romance was sweet and the plot was interesting, and i’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a satisfying comfort read.

we were liars by e. lockhart

not gonna lie, i did not think i would like this book. i went into it just thinking it was an over-hyped bookstagram book, but i was pleasantly surprised. i know a more flowery writing style isn’t for everyone, but i adored it. it was beautiful and almost poetic and so raw and the metaphors wrecked my brain and I found myself rereading exquisitely crafted sentences because i needed to appreciate them enough. however, i didn’t agree with much of the characters’ views, and there was some rather strong language. otherwise, this is a suspenseful and thought-provoking read, and it might leave you sobbing and staring at the ceiling.

welp, here’s to my first year not achieving my goodreads goal! šŸ‘ all progress is still progress, right? even though i didn’t reach my goal, i read some great books last year and i am excited to explore more stories in 2026!

did you reach your 2025 reading goal (or were you in a slump like me)? what were some of your favorite reads?

keep shining!
